Description

Location - Victoria, London. You will be expected to be in the office 4 days a week. With agreement from your manager, you may work from home one day per week.

Job overview

You will be working for Places for London, a dedicated commercial property company set up by TfL to manage its commercial estate and property development. It plays a key role in shaping London.

TfL owns a 5,700 acres estate that includes land and properties, with huge potential for creating the homes and jobs the Capital needs. Their landholdings can play a vital role in meeting the Mayor's priorities to build affordable homes and the generation of thriving mixed use places, while generating revenue to re-invest in improving the transport network. TfL are committed to creating a fairer, greener, healthier and more prosperous city.

You will be working in the Planning and Design (P&D) team whose role is to: provide strategic and development management planning advice to teams working across Places for London; engage with boroughs to secure appropriate planning policies and site allocations; lead the planning process and secure permission for their schemes; liaise with all stakeholders on planning matters; and take the lead within Places for London on design, quality and sustainability.

What will I be doing?

You will be a Planning and Development Assistant in the Property Development, P&D team; helping realise Mayoral objectives to deliver new homes, affordable housing, high quality place making and income generation through the development of TfL property across the commercial estate. You will undertake planning research, appraise potential development sites and opportunities, review planning policy, provide planning advice to colleagues and generally support the progression of development schemes.

Whilst you will be part of the P&D team, the role will also provide opportunities for you to gain experience of other roles in property development. You will work closely with other parts of TfL, the GLA, local authorities, developers, consultants, and other key stakeholders.

You will make a valuable contribution to exciting and innovative projects in London, helping you to develop your understanding of the planning and the development process.

The aim is to equip you with a range of skills and experience to supplement your degree studies and help you embark upon your successful career.

What TfL offer

You will enjoy excellent benefits and scope to grow. Rewards vary according to the business area but mostly include:

  • Free travel on the TfL network for you and a nominee who lives in the same household
  • Discounted national rail and Eurostar travel
  • 28 days Annual leave (Pro rata dependent on role) plus public and bank holidays
  • Tax-efficient cycle-to-work programme
  • Retail, health, leisure, and travel offers & many more

Please Note: TfL only allow one application for any of their Graduate or internship schemes per year. Any subsequent applications will be withdrawn.
